Top 10 Must Haves for New Moms

Monday, May 09, 2011

Registering for baby can be quite overwhelming... New moms and dads comprise their list of things they think they are going to need and walk into the baby super store to realize there are about a hundred choices for everything on their list.  My son is now 2 1/2 and I know we have a huge box of stuff that we thought that we would need and never used... so, I have come up with a list of a few of my favorite must have baby items.

1. Pretty Diaper Bags- Diaper bags aren't what they used to be... no more pink and blue gingham with lace, these days moms pick a bag that suites their style more than baby's.  Three Lindys has a great line of stylish contemporary diaper bags that all come with super cool accessories and most are wipable and easy to clean.

2. Swaddle Blanket-  All I have to say is TAKE THESE TO THE HOSPITAL WITH YOU!  That first night in the hospital they brought our son to us wrapped up tighter than a burrito and he liked it.  But, no matter how many times we had the nurses show us how, we could never get him swaddled just right.  This made for a long first night because he was unhappy because he wasn't tightly swaddled and we were afraid that his blanket would come loose and suffocate him in the night.  We all rested a little easier the next night because someone brought us these velcro swaddle blankets.

3. Cute Caps- Don't get me wrong, the little pink and blue hospital cap is sweet, but why not let your little one show their style in the hospital nursery.  We are working on some cute designs that we will feature at our Spring Open House.

4. Burp Cloths- If you have a baby you know these are not just for burping... wiping soon becomes the number one function and its great to have a big stack on cute ones on hand because sometimes it feels like wiping up spit-up and messing is also your number one function (behind feeding, of course).  Three Lindys sells them in packs of 4 with many, many varieties to choose from.

5. Bouncy Seat- This piece of baby gear proved invaluable for us because I could move it from room to room and baby was safe and secure so I could take a shower, cook dinner, or just have a moment to myself.

6. Hooded Towels- There is nothing cuter that a baby wrapped up in a hooded towel after a bath and Three Lindys has them to match the bibs and burp cloths.

7. Inch Bug Labels- We got a set of these as a shower gift and still use them today.  These labels are non adhesive and dishwasher safe and great for finding baby's bottle to sippy cup at play group or church nursery because, lets face it, all sippy cups start to look the same with everything else you have to keep up with.

8. Bibs- Thick cloth bibs are great for bottle feedings and Three Lindys has a huge selection to choose from. But I found these rubber pocket bibs when my son started eating solid food.  They are great because they catch all the food that would have fallen in his lap and when meal time is over we just throw them in the dishwasher. We can add a vinyl monogram or icon for a personal touch.

9. Baby Food Recipes and Freezer Trays- I started making my sons baby food once I tasted the store bought ones... yuck!  The reality is that making baby food is as simple steaming some veggies and throwing them in the food processor.  I would make a big batch and freeze it in 2 oz servings. Anabel Karmel has a couple of really good recipe books and a website that are great resources.

10. Birthday Plate- Though all the sleepless nights and dirty diapers feel like they will go on forever, the first year of baby's life will fly by.  Commemorate his first birthday with this cute, personalized birthday plate and start a special tradition for years to come.

Three Lindys Announcement

Tuesday, May 03, 2011

Three Lindys sponsors an open house twice a year to showcase new products.
We enjoy interacting with our customers and getting to know their personalization needs.  We also have
a heart for the community.  So we have decided to partner with a local charity during our open houses in order to increase awareness and financial support for that charity.

In the fall of last year we partnered with Manna Café Ministries, an organization that feeds, loves, and nurtures the poor and homeless.  This spring we are partnering with Hope Pregnancy Center, a medical pregnancy help center committed to providing accurate information and quality services to women and couples facing an unexpected pregnancy.

We are asking people to participate in Hope’s Baby Bottle Campaign by saving their change in a baby bottle bank and bringing it to Hope the day of the event.  Contact Kara at  kara@threelindys.com to participate in the Baby Bottle Campaign.  By helping us help Hope, those people will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win over $150 of Three Lindys products.  A part of Three Lindys sales on the day of the Open House will go directly to Hope.

Tips for Choosing the Perfect Graduation Gift

Monday, April 11, 2011

Graduation is a special moment in life.  It’s an exciting time because of the great accomplishment, and it’s a time to be honored with special gifts from loved ones.  I wanted to share with you a few tips on how to choose that perfect gift for that special graduate in your life.

A personalized gift shows that you truly had the graduate in mind when choosing a gift.

What can the graduate use in the next phase of their life?  For high school graduates, what will they need for college?  For college graduates, what will they need in their careers?

A symbolic, sentimental gift for a graduate would include something that will remind the graduate of home and/or you, the gift giver.  Symbolic gifts can give graduates a sense of comfort as they begin the new journeys of their lives.

Themed gifts are both fun for the giver and the graduate.  Pick a theme that relates to the graduate’s college choice or career choice.  Other themes may include collegiate pride specific to the graduate’s college choice, a “college survival kit,” a “real-world survival kit,” or themes that are specific to the graduate’s major or career.

Below are some specific suggestions of great graduate gifts.

 Girls:  -personalized lap desk
           -personalized jewelry
           -personalized melamine plates and bowls

Guys: -personalized pen, money clip, or mug
          -personalized travel bag
          -personalized clip board

We are glad to help you choose the perfect gift for the graduate in your life.  Contact me at kara@threelindys.com with any questions.  We have also devoted a whole section of our site to graduation gifts.

Great Find: The Monogram Swap

Monday, March 28, 2011
I hope we inspired you all to do some simple spring cleaning last week.  As we were doing some spring cleaning of our own at Three Lindys, we came across a ton of samples for products we are no longer selling... and if you are monogram lovers like us, you too may have personalized items that you aren't using anymore and wondering, "What in the heck do I do with these?!?"

Well, I have an answer for you! I have recently found a website called
The Monogram Swap.

The way it works is simple: all you have to do is create an account and start listing items to sell.  The site runs a lot like EBAY or ETSY in terms of listing, selling, and payment.  Once your item is bought, you simply ship it out to the buyer.

I also read in the blog that the site is looking for a new "mommy".
An ideal candidate would have a few hours a week to spend working on the site, knowledge of paypal and facebook, and a love for monogrammed items.  If you are good with website programming that would be an added bonus.  If not, you can always find good help!

It is not high-maintenance and even comes with a pre-made blog!

Adoption fees are very reasonable for the right person.  If you’re interested, please contact the owner, Lauren, and she’d love to fill you in on the details. {lauren@themonogramswap.com}

And get this, because we would personally love to see the site go on and succeed, we will offer an exclusive Three Lindys gift to the one of our readers who decides to take on the task.

We will be listing those samples that I told you about very soon and will announce on facebook and twitter when we do, so be sure you are following us if you are interested.
